The Benefits of Wearing Sunglasses

Keratoconus is a disease of the cornea, the front clear surface of the eye. The disease causes the cornea to thin and bulge resulting in distorted vision. But what causes Keratoconus?nfortunately there's no single answer because the actual cause isn't really know.Keratoconus affects between one in five hundred and one in two Perfect Vision Today thousand people world wide and studies into the disease have yet to come up with a definite cause. There are however lots of theories published throughout the world and here are a few of them.Genetics There is some evidence that genetics plays a part in the development of Keratoconus. A review of research on the internet shows that between eight and ten percent of people with Keratoconus can link this to a family member.

Personally I am told that my maternal Grandmother (who I never met) had what was described as' a cone over her eye'. This description, along with the description of the vision problems she had would certainly suggest that it was Keratoconus.Unfortunately this is not conclusive as there are a lot of people who cannot make that link, perhaps because no such link exists, or perhaps because any such family members may have very mild, potentially undiagnosed, Keratoconus.Allergies This is only likely to happen if the lenses are a poor fit so should not be a major cause of concern. As with the eye rubbing the corneas of someone with Keratoconus may be more susceptible to damage but this should not be a cause of the disease.
